It does not take long to do it, will wait a day or to for the glue to dry.
Then with add a splash of paint around using cheap artist oil paints they work better then using acrylic paints, With the oil you add add different colours while its still wet with acrylic you have to wait untill the first coat is dry, have already tryed that before yes!
Gravel pit Diorama
Re: Gravel pit Diorama
Only used two colours of oil paint, Winsor & Newton Yellow Ochre and Burnt Umber.

A tip for you.
To make rock walls for a Diorama you need the following.
Kitchen foil.
Casting plaster.
Fly screen.
Roll foil up into a ball then unroll it and flatten it out keeping the wrinkles in bend up the edges to make small dish about 6 inches square can be smaller and about 5mm deep.
Mix up plaster and add a bit of acrylic paint to tint the plaster any brown or grey.
Pour plaster into foil tray and put little bit of fly screen into the plaster.
screen makes the dry plaster stronger.
To glue it in place mix up a bit of plaster and use as a paste.
Once dry you can use oil or Acrylic paint.

Re: Gravel pit Diorama
Got the two Volvo dumpers out of lay-by.

Re: Gravel pit Diorama
Picked up the rest of my HO machinery from the Museum today and sat then in the gravel pit, It got over crowded very quickly.

In bottom photo shows the different's of the two Volvo Dumper trucks, The one on the left is a 1/87 scale by Norscot and the one on the left is 1/87 scale by Siku.
The big different's it the hand rails and mirrors on the Siku also the side rams. I will look at changing the rails and mirrors can live with the rams.
