No they were just a block of ice cream in a paper wrapper no stick the were made by black cat Ice Cream you got two wafer biscuits to put on each side of the ice cream , The company was bought out by Streets but they were not the same, Paid two Pennys for them. Street sold them for 20 cents each.
You got Choc, mint or plain.

oh yea! ice cream sandwiches!!
I remember them now, my neighbour used to give me them as a kid when we had to stay with her after school.
You can get similar these days but yea like you said, not the same.. the wafer was what made it for me. I haven't seen any with wafers these days, all have biscuits like Monaco bars.. malt biscuits are yum and I love the ALDI and coles versions but the original 'ice cream sandwich' was definitely awesome.
but you are right, tis does show your age!! also shows mine lol.. except i'm not even 40

ALDI has a great choc coated ice cream on a stick think there is ten in a packet can not eat just one drool
Did not know it was called a ice cream sandswiches, Black Cat Ice cream was the best it came in square tins half gallon or gallon, you got choc, mint or plain it was made in a small place at Orange nsw, Streets bought them out and dropped there range of ice creams and there water ice blocks on a stick which were far better then Streets.

This one is done waiting for glue to dry before any photos of it. This is a very nice AMT kit to build the step side should be the same, The only thing I did not use was the custom body kit and I did not use the blocks to lift the body up.
