Foose 68 Pontiac Firebird project

Post by sandboarder »

So it's rained enough here for me to unbox a winter project. Idea is a candy lime green Firebird, slammed, radius'd fenders, full cage. Started cutting it up tonight and will see how far I get with it this weekend. Wheels are Aoshima SSR professors with Aoshima tyres from a S13 kit. I wanted the bit wider tyre without the stretch n camber the SSR's came with.

After I cut the fenders. I think I'll raise the front by 1-2mm and the rear by 3-4mm to get the look I'm after. Dunno if I'll make it a wide body too.

Like the Firebird not a fan on the rims, will be watching what you do with this one.

I really like the green and chrome. I'm not going to wreck another NASCAR kit just for the wheels so I've decided to use the Japanese wheels with good rubber. Here's what they look like in real life.

Using the kit wheels because it's easier I've sorted the ride height. Here's the dropped front with standard rear. Big notch in the chassis which will require a lot of work to get the engine sitting just right.

And here's with the rear dropped. Standard leaf springs and diff I just cut 4mm off the mounting blocks.

I don't know if I'll look at the engine next or the interior/roll cage. I spose I should do the engine while I'm cutting n glue the front suspension but together.

Still playing around with how everything fits here. Engines a bit high which means either a hole in the bonnet to suit the kit air cleaner or I'll need to change the carby and ditch the air cleaner.

You could chop some of the sump out. Liking this build, reminds me of those dirt track racers hi5

Looks good, how about a small subtle bonnet scoop to accommodate the aircleaner and yeah what KC said, a dry sump arrangement out of a Nascar kit thinking dunno
