Aoshima LB Works 1972 GC110 Skyline

Post by sandboarder »

So I had plans for the works flairs and another kit. So I mocked this one up thinking of painting it olive drab with everything blackout out (grill, window trims, tail light panel etc) with the chrome hubcaps

But then I was looking at the flairs and the internet, back to the flairs and back on the internet. So I got the dremel out and I’m blaming this WIP thread on the internet!!! Will only WIP body n paint because everyone has the the rest with how these kits go together.

I cut a lot more away with the dremel after I took the mock up pics ;)

Wheels are just for the mock up. I think the got the kit another 1mm lower as the tyre was sitting on the body. I’ll show how much I cut away in total later when its had body work. Next is to smooth n primer. Test fit tail lights. Custom exhaust dunno

Just doing prep work while the weather is crap. crossed I can paint the Hako Monday if weather allows.

You need to remove rear door handles and fill door gap and make it into a two. thinking

I would but reckon 100% of what I’ve seen in Japan with works fenders/flair looks like this.

Notice the 110 on the doors is the Skyline model code. They do the same with 210’s as well. Pretty sweet touch I think

As soon as the flairs went on the colour combo went out the window. I can’t build it like the box art

My idea for paint may warrant some extra exhaust treatment but I’ll sort that out when I get there

Yeah it’s not for everyone. I would personally start with a two door. It just make more sense but if I’m going to build a 4 door in their style, I can only copy what they do yes!

Small on as 1/2 the body work is done. Once finished it’s the normal primer, fit flairs, base coat and colour. There’s no turning back now tho.
