Bandai HG Z’gok (K Suzuki style)

Post by sandboarder »

Been a fan of K Suzuki’s YouTube and that the reason I tried a Candy paint build before but now i want to try something else. Just like K Suzuki I’ll build a Z’Gok which I got for $15 from Metro Hobbies.

I didn’t actually take a pic of the box but it’s one of these guys (the red ones always cheaper)

I just cut everything out and cleaned up the nub marks with 1000 grit sanding pad.

Into the jewellery/parts washer. I use warm water and a drop of dish washing liquid. This is great for removing all the sanding dust that can get stuck in hard to get places.

Now the parts are drying. The next step is primer.

The grounds wet and it’s sunny 15 degrees. I got the priming done. I had to heat up the can 4x but it’s done. Mr Hobby 1500 black still turn out perfect in the crappy weather.

Sub assembly’s done.

Paint and tools ready for next step ohno

Basically use the cling wrap as your brush. Wipe excess on paper towel and dabbed the work. Happy with the result and crossed the effect will work out.

Pretty much everything now will need the airbrush on this build now. The plan is to spray black and stainless steel first and colours later on.

After seeing K Suzuki on YouTube it’s really got me interested in the air brush. The effects he pulls off are amazing and they look simple enough. After Luke done that webbing (one of K Suzuki techniques) I thought I’d try candy and now this effect. Fingers crossed it works out.

It could look good on a van. Maybe wait until I’ve finished the effect first or look at his YouTube so you know where I’m going with this paint.

Thanks Luke, this is definitely something I’ve been wanting to try.

I got the pre-shading done now. Not sure weather to do a second colour pre shading or go straight to using the main colour on this one. I see what I have time for.

Easy to learn from K Suzuki and get same results, just have to use same products and give it a go.
Stepping up your airbrush game doing the pre shading now.
Green/blue combo gets my vote thumbsup
