Warhammer 40K Space Marines started pack

Post by sandboarder »

I swear I’m not going insane. I need to learn to use a wet palette and use acrylic paints to paint for mini’s!! So to work my way down I bought this. 3 figures, simple paint colours from Cidadel and a brush. So as we have had rain on my days off for the last 2 weeks I decided this would be a good idea.

Here’s what’s in the box.

The paint lids have this cool palette feature, not that I plan to use it.

Here’s proof I’m not losing the plot. A MG 1/100 pilot figure is the size of a Marines leg!!

ude hell yeah! I'll be watching intently! I've got a fair few of these little buggers here somewhere waiting for attention  Some of the minis I've seen are crazy cool... I still have that Gloom-shrint moon-shaped temple thing here somewhere to do someday too

Cant wait to see the hella crazy super-prescise painting you're gonna do!

crossed there’s seems to be a knack to these so hopefully I can figure it out. I believe it’s lots of thin layers to build colour and then shadows etc

I've seen it done a bunch of different ways tbh, but all the methods I rekon would transfer over to other hobbies/models pretty well. I love the edge-lining that people do, it's crazy!

I have some 25mm white metal Amazon Women that I painted years ago, they still packed away some were.
I looked at War Hammer but the cost of it around here has put me off getting any the Amazon Women were $5 each.

Ive been watching a few dry brush builds but thought it’d be a chance to learn new skills with new paints.

If you ever come across them, you will have to share them :D

This pack was $60. The paints are around $6 each and the brush is $13-18 so there’s $49 plus 3 figures, that’s good value for money. There was another pack for $70 with 10 figures but I don’t need that!

You might have to ask a moderator before posting nudes!! rofl

Quickly put one together for a mock up. Snap fit and nice details. Plastic is a little bit softer then what I’m used to.

The first one will be done using only the kits 6 colours. I may put more effort into the other 2 depending on how the first one turns out
