K-Break VIP Toyota Majesta UZS141 by Aoshima

Post by sandboarder »

In discussion with Slowly a while back and I said something about crossing over car cultures and styles. A few weeks later I had some very nice Simmon FR style wheels to Australian our a VIP build.

Now the hard part choosing the right kit and figuring out how to do the wheels justice. Here’s what I’ve decided on

Image

The basic mock

Because I’m impatient I super glued all the suspension to the chassis and picked some random 19” wheels for an OOB mock up. PS it is Monday after all

Now the fun stuff will start happening. It needs more camber, demon camber so I’ll make up a 15 degree template and will push the wheels out from the bottom. This will stuff all the fitment up. So I may need to either put the tops in or do VIP build style body work. Also the rear end is to high but I’ll lower it AFTER the camber so I know where I’m up too.

If you are not worried about the chassis or suspension detail, may I suggest going with brass straight axles. That would make it super easy to get the camber.
Dont have the material, time or patience bring it round and il help you set it up how you want.

Well I didn’t expect that. The front end is 90% done. -15 degrees of camber. Just needs the steering rack but modified

Crude but gets the job done. Hopefully the rear is as easy otherwise I might have to take you up on the brass rod idea

As we sometimes say, do what ever it takes to get them low or stanced, no one see's the underside except ourselves. Form over function

Pretty frustrating time with this one this afternoon. I forgot one important factor and everything is pretty much wrong banghead

Anyway here is the stock rear and then the modified rear.

Image

3mm spacing because the rear had less camber then the front.

Image

Too much camber now

Image

Now none of this is an issue until I realise the wheels are hitting the body hard!! banghead I should have notice this a lot sooner nono so I trimmed the top strut mount to get even more camber and it still won’t tuck.

Your probably thinking “what the big deal?” Well because the wheels fault they raise the car by a massive 4-5mm which in scale is huge!! I need to get these rear wheels to tuck or I’ll need to cut the body. Then I’ll also have too much camber, need to take out the 3mn spacer and use 2mm and also readjust the front to match thinking

No wonder I stop building cars
