With a small slap in the face...
My new job, for all who don't know coz i'm not sure if i actually said yet, I'm joining Sydney trains on Feb 7, trainee train driver for 12 months, passing the test (hopefully) and becoming a qualified driver.
BUT.... they don't like secondary employment and seeing as Kustom Vinyls is a registered business with my name on it, i was honest about it but they are now reviewing if i can continue to do both.
If they decline the secondary employment, i have to give 1 up.... sad to say, it will be the model building. or will it....... I'll transfer it into my wife's name.
They should accept it tho, I did state I only work on models when ordered and never more than a couple of hours a day due to drying and printing times. I put forward a detailed plan of how i spend time on a model. from the hrs on the computer to do the design, being broken down to whenever i have spare time, on rostered days off... to a couple of minutes to load the file into the printer and hit print. the few minutes spent spraying a layer of paint then waiting 15 minutes to a few days before doing the next layer of paint or next step in the process. so when it's all laid out that way, it looks like i don't do much each day. certainly not enough to put me at risk of fatigue before a shift.
fingers crossed they accept it and I don't have to change a thing.
with scalemasters, it's almost all set up that i don't have to do much other than print decals and a detailed plan of that is, load the file, hit print, x copies and come back in xx minutes.
it's not how that actually works, seeing as i do 1 layer of colour at a time but on paper, it looks good :)

big silver ones :)

The current range on NSW tracks, Oscar, Millenium, Tangara... don't know what the new one is called. never really been a big train person. it's a job for me, I like the conditions and the work but a train is a train to me.
There was an article in the Sydney Morning Herald quite a few people sent me... i'm getting in at the right time.

they do but that's the private sector and less job security. government jobs are very secure, so unless i do something major... i'll retire in the train system... wether it's as a driver or another department like controls or signals, who knows... i wouldn't mind getting into the signals and controls, especially if driverless trains do come sooner rather than later.
