Bandai MG MS-07B-3 Gouf custom 1/100 scale

Post by sandboarder »

This kit will be my first Master Grade Gundam. I didn't realise how old this kit was and the differences from version 1 and 2.0 kits (there's 1.5 and 3.0 kits too) Since discovering this I've been researching these online. I haven't even open the box yet but will start this by the end of the month. Here's some pictures of what I'll be working with.

The kits comes with a 1/20 figure as well as the 1/100 pilot.

Hands, the newer kits have a lot better hands, independent fingers.

Here's a English colour chart conversion if you wanted to paint it properly http://www.mech9.com/2010/11/hguc-ms-07 ... guide.html

Once some supplies come and I tidy up my bench I'll start it. The plan is very simple. Black panel lines, flat clear coat. Still unsure of the frame, I might lightly dust it with a metallic TS can and do some small highlights or panel line as well. You can only rally see the elbow and knee joints when it's completed.

Found of clip of Ramba Ral's Gouf and its first encounter with the RX-78. The Gouf was an upgrade of the Zaku https://youtu.be/fFjt5XIX-JU

I’ve got my basic tool kit. I have another T handle part separating tool on the way.

A 1/2 tidy bench and I’m almost ready to open the box

Just painted 9 parts for this one. 8 are good but 1 must have had mould release product on it and the paint looks gross. That’ll get stripped and I’ll have to clean every part going forwards on this kit.

One arm just over 1/2 way now. No hand yet. Once the paint dried the part I thought was no good, actually wasn’t that bad at all. You can still see some blue but it could be a bit of an illusion/reflection as well. Next to decide if I panel wash before more paint and dry brush.

Panel lines, flat clear and then gun metal. Looking at this piece and it’ll probably be the most detailed on the whole arm.

I found the figure in amongst the part trees.

I finished one arm, onto the other one now. I’ll do the hands later. A good mix of Metallica and lacquer, enamel and acrylic paint. I dried brush some acrylic silver but I don’t think it worked that good. The paint wouldn’t stick to the new brush. Might try an enamel next time.

The equipment used. The Gaianotes finish master Luke gave me works amazing!! I’ll be using it a lot more to clean up any square edge’s. Thanks Luke thumbsup
