LEOPARD 1-A4

Post by B61 MACK »

West German Tank LEOPARD 1-A4 by Tamiya 1/35 scale.
Gone back to building Tanks starting with the Leopard 1-A4.
The Leopard designed started in 1956-61 Produced 1965-84, 6,565 were made weight 42.2 tonnes and top speed 65kn/h main gun 105mm.
The Leopard 1-A4 is the sixth batch of tanks built in 1974 and 250 were made.
Most were painted Olive Drab but this one also has a two tone camo on it the Olive Drab and Matt Earth which I will be doing.

Good to see you doing a Tank again thumbsup

Is this one of those paint jobs they had to change because it went overseas? I saw something where they mixed sand and fuel to paint vehicles. They were the wrong colour and they had to try and camouflage them on the spot.

Well got a splash of Olive Drab on the leopard, Used Tamiya Thinner to thin the paint down to get it to Airbrush, Will say goes on nice but it's a lot slower in drying even for flat paint and takes more coats to get a better cover of colour, Think it need to have a touch more thinners in it.
I been using metho as thinner since 1993 so it will take me awhile to get the hang of using the Tamiya Thinners.
I will wait a week before adding the brown on.
