Painting RC Bodies

Post by Jiminee »

Afternoon lads

A good mate of mine has given me these two Tamiya RC bodies to paint and was wondering if anyone here had any experience with doing this. I know I need PS rather than TS paint, which I have but any further tips would be greatly appreciated starting with how to trim the bodies and other preparation necessities.

I used to do RC bodies... Still haven't shown them of :)
To trim, use a compass for the wheel arches and small scissor to trim around the body.
Biggest tip is remember is reverse layers, if you want black on white, mask up what you want white then spray black, peel the mask and spray white.
Also... Dark colours first as dark colours behind light will darken the light colours.

I think what I am now most worried about is now catching the RC bug and buying one of these bad boys for myself!

 understand why you are worried. RC scaler's can get expensive real quick, but that depends on how far/much you get into it though.

oh yea it can!!
I think I have 8 bodies or so for 2 cars, 1 electric and 1 petrol... can anyone guess what the base body for both was? hehehe.. no prizes if you can

I have a VY Maloo ute body that I fit lights in, along with servos so when you turn, indicators flash, when you brake, brakelights come on :)
I also did a cop WRX body with working lights and siren... I really HAVE to post some pics and vids

I was looking at a RC drift car online where the builder left a door off so you can see the driver, his legs work the pedals and either shifted gears or pulled the handbrake as well.
