Bandai 30mm Cielnova project

Called in sick today to build Gunpla!! Ok that’s not true but I did build a Bandai kit. One of the new 30 minute missions kit, the Cielnova based on the Portanova. As a whole I don’t really like the mobile suit but I had some really cool parts. The plan is to mock up the option kits and kit bash some bit until I think it looks cool. Then I’ll will paint it!



The Cielnova has long forearms and long legs. The head, chest n shoulders are slim. The backpack sticks out a lot. Here’s the OOB mock up







Here it is compared to the brown Portanova and green Alto Commander option (one day I’ll weather this one)

Good way to spend a sick day

Has some very different features than all the others, not sure what to make of it myself.

Torso and arms have some good details.

But the front of the legs seem a bit too chunky, armor to protect the legs ?? but have alot of details on the back.

Look forward to see how you mix it up to build your own version and see what you do for paint.

Before I look at this one again I’ll build my Alto doner kit

Possibilities are endless with the option armor, the 30MM are starting to get very popular with all the kits and armor that are available now.

Looks ike you have a good stash of kits and options to keep the mind and ideas turning over.

The Elite Officer set, has some interesting parts that head piece reminds me of RX-0 unicorn mode. Shoulder armor is chunky but has some cool detail with the intake vents ?? And that claw, how can you not think of Freddy Krueger

The Defense Operations, again interesting parts especially the face sheild head piece. Again shoulders well detailed. Those claws are classic.
What would you call the part that goes on the back pack, an aerial of sorts ??

Your right about the Unicorn (RX-0) horn!! The red shoulders remind me of a Sazabi suit for some reason. I Hurd it’s an Ariel but kinda looks like a rooster to me too

The defence option is cool. Not sure if the shoulders are weapon racks or something else, they look like tasers too. The face is Aliens X medieval to me. The claw is similar to the Qubeley as well as Freddy’s glove.

Really not sure where this is going but the long forearms and chunky long legs aren’t doing it for me. Plenty of parts in the stash to pick from!!

Built the Alto donor kit and mixed the 2 together. Still unsure of the legs and waist.









Next up I’ll build the Portanova donor and mash the 2 together. After that I can mash all 3 together and so on until I’m happy.
