MG MSM-07 Z’Gok under water mobile suit

Post by sandboarder »

Almost time to start this one so I opened it up and had a look. The plan is OOB with some more airbrush practice. Once it’s completed I’ll look at Weathering and focus on mud and moss.

What’s in the box

What’s under that bit

Bags

10 runners, the far left is rubber seals

Sticker and dry rub sheets

New products I’ll will use. I’ll airbrush the 1500 black primer. Then will use my new stainless steel and titanium to detail the inner frame. The 2 Mr Weathering products should work well to simulate mud and moss

1500 black mixed at a ratio of 1:1.5 ready to go

I had a quick read of the instructions and it looks like a good quick build. So next time I’ll start on this I’ll focus on the parts I want to airbrush first.

I also check out dalong.net for reference pictures and here’s what I’m looking at.

Inner frame exposed, there’s really only 5 parts to detail. Stainless steel body, waist and claws. While I use titanium for the feet and arms as they’ll need to be a lighter material.

The head missiles will probably need to be a grey or flat black dunno

Not sure but will probably use titanium here

I think that’s all the planning I need

Looks like a pretty easy build with low parts count. Good one to concentrate on paint, lots of surface area for the weathering too.
You going with the oob armor colour ??
Got to plan things out ahead of time as it makes the build process easier.

Staying with the OOB blues. I liked the OOB HG plus I think the staining and streaking will show up well on the lighter blue.

Gotta have a plan and then see where the build takes you.

I also decided I needed a bigger organiser for this one. I spent a little bit of time on this one before I had to pack up.

Quick mock to check colour separation of parts. Noticed my first challenge, those vents.

And pulled apart again

Good score with the organizer for the bigger parts.

Paint them first and mask off yes!

We will have to get some of this one day for the tricky spots.

blu-tack is great for masking, squish it on and cut off the excess with a blade :D
