Mark Cravino - Larry Merifield VT Commodore

Post by bodgybro »

A repeat customer and also a good mate from racing, has asked me if I can do a surprise 50th gift for a friend of his.
He has sent me some pics... it's a very basic livery so it wouldn't take much to do once the artwork is done and sized.
Normally I wouldn't squeeze 1 in between other builds, first in first done an all... but since this was a pretty simple strip, repaint, decal and rebuild and I already have everything set up from my current builds that I need to knock this one out.
I took it on.
I got this monday

Within half hour, i had ti down to this

This is yesterday's progress
De'perkins'ed it with Non Acetone nail polish remover

Was tossing up between grey or white primer and Pure Red or Brilliant red.. with KC's advice, I went Pure Red on White

And this is where I'm at today

Just got to add some colour decals, some black decals, then clear coat it, do the black around the windows, chrome behind the lights, then put it all back together.
Good chance I will have this done by Friday... may even get it in Friday's post.

a 5 day build.... who says you can only have 2 of 3?
- cheap
- fast
- quality

I've done fast and I believe quality.... haven't done my invoice yet, so maybe only 2 out of 3

Done and dusted...
finished it yesterday but haven't had a chance to post it here
it's mounted in the case... will take a few pics of that before i ship it.

What the model is based on... a few small changes to the pics. number, bonnet sponsor, side bar sponsor... no pics of how it looked with them so this was 'reference of the main sponsors, the rest was just what i was told was where.
obviously the wing is wrong but i didn't have the time to make a proper wing... not in the time he wanted this done by anyway.

I thought i was almost finished on Thursday but he messaged me about the interior, i thought i was just doing the exterior for a quick job to make it look right in a display box, so the interior got a treatment on Thursday night/Friday morning.
