Nice, I'm actually watching yours to see how it's done before I buy mine. :)

As you all know, Ken Block is my god and I LOVE his liveries... EXCEPT... when I have to redraw them, bloody hell this one has been a PITA!!! being reflective, different pics show different details and i keep second guessing if i have done it right... i am hoping to get some of the base decals done or masked up for paint.. not sure which way i am going yet.

They may be a PITA but I'm looking forward to seeing the process and how you achieve the livery

I would post the file I made for the base 'zebra' look but as there doesn't seem to be any online.. i don't want it showing up on a search engine and having others steal it, for personal use or resale or even claiming the credit for making it.

made it really small, not big enough to use without a hell of a lot of work, and add a text over it, so you can see the idea without anyone being able to steal and use it.

made a rookie decal design mistake..... having to redraw the decals.
not that i have had much model time this weekend as I thought I would.
my wife's friend, our babysitter, is moving in with us... so my wife has been off with her, helping her back and forward, leaving me with the kiddies. my office is all set up out the back and my youngest is into everything, so no way i'm taking him in there with me :)
I have almost got everything ready for the 1:24 full version, this will ONLY be shared with members here if anyone wants 1. the body will be for sale on shapeways but nothing else... other parts include, the engine or engine stacks and hat only, the seats, the interior tub, the dash, the handbrake, the wheels, the chassis, the windows (vac formed), the diffuser.

I wasn't happy with the black base when I applied the first test piece of vinyl, so I rubbed it back more... it didn't look so bad until I took a pic.. might need to wear glasses full time now :/ after seeing this pic, it looks like i can't tell what's smooth or not without glasses.

test vinyl on gloss black to see if i had to go flat or semi gloss to make the vinyl stand out.

new gloss base coat

Then flat clear

Then accidentally touched the roof and stuffed it

rubbed it back again and redone the gloss and flat.. looking so much better now.

I've cut the smallest vinyl job I have EVER done, 5c piece in the pic for size reference... will give the body a few days to gas out and then apply

reflective vinyl is on V2
but yes in a way it is because of that, i am working on V2 bonnet (slowly lol) and decided to try and cut this livery on vinyl so i can do the reflective vinyl on V2
I am going to have to do the other sponsors as decals, B pillar, rear bar etc and i didn't allow for them in the vinyl... so i will have to print and apply them first, then cut the vinyl before applying to make clearance. it's an interesting livery to do, frustrating but challenging which i do enjoy in the end (such an open comment.. who's going to stir first)
if this was done in decals, i can't think how to make the flat and gloss together because the decal paper is a clear film, if you spray clear coat over the decals, the clear between the printed parts, is also affected by the clear.. so if it's glossed, then gloss will be over the flat paint.. killing the effect, or if it's flat over clear.. dull. so it's going to be another headache to make it work as decals. 1 i have to do tho... i'm sure someone here is going to need some hoonicorn decals ;)
