'Shakotan' S30 Fairlady Z

Post by slowlylearning »

Finished it up tonight. Tamiya silver leaf, Tamiya purple with Tamiya pearl clear over it, Aoshima wheels, pretty standard stuff. The pearl doesn't show too well with my LED lamp thing so I'll take some outside pictures at some point to show just how glittery it came out. Coupla mistakes with the masking, it was sitting masked for a few months so that didn't help. I'm happy enough with it. The wipers go straight up the windshield and I didn't like that so I just put a couple of pin heads in the exposed holes.

Cheers, Albo. You're right about the purple, although I think the pearl clear did turn it a bit blue.

Luke, yeah man, thems the Tecchin type 1's, I love em! Nice and utilitarian  Shakotan means 'Car with lowered body', in Aussie that means 'lower than a snakes bumhole'

I LOVE that idea, purple on purple... be like that story i once heard about a bike builder.
guy came in wanting ghost flames... so the painter did silver flames on a darker silver base... guy complained you could see the flames, so he did them darker which was barely visible, guy complained again that you could still see them. so the painter did the whole thing in the 1 colour, customer was happy. THAT's how you do ghost flames.... true story bro

I don't doubt it either.
I don't have the skills for that sort of stuff unfortunately.
