Ben Kavich - Quad shot of Rexy's

Post by bodgybro »

Doing 4 05 WRX STi's for Ben and Michael Kavich
2 of each of these

I used a new printer for large bodies, form China...
They arrived warped as f..k!

So I had to make internal braces to hold them back in shape and reheat and rewarp them... unfortunately, I made the braces and fit them but left the bodies in my boot for a couple of days, forgetting about them... fortunately, the heat in the car gets pretty bad and reshaped them for me, so it all worked out well.

In primer with another FG ute being built at the same time

2 pink

2 white base

2 now in almost full dress

aaaaaaannnnd then.... while applying the yellow vinyl, I found a weak point in the chinese print :/

Now fixed and back on track

Decals for the pink are a massive job! just the drawing is taking hrs upon hrs, the application will take me a good day or 2 to apply.

05 Jiminee.... not the last good looking one!! the 2011 is THE BEST looking... I know, i bought 1!! :)
The 05 was the BEST sounding tho... by far, has such a different burble to the rest of the EJ's, I would like the 05 STi EJ20 in my 2011 Rex... even tho mine is 2.5, it just doesn't have that burble.
3inch exhaust, tune and still... not even close to the 05's growl

The current ones just look so fat and not in the good way, in the 'that is almost as big as my Commodore' way.
The original sizing was just perfect I reckon.

I get what you're saying mate but my model is the fat betty, the fix of the 08-10 ugly betty.
I reckon it meets the mark in all categories, looks beefy, goes hard but is also a perfect size between small and large to function as a family car as well as dad's mid life crisis car :)

I'm overly paranoid, after putting up with driving a VE SS around a country town dodging pot holes and tiny car parks I want something smaller (more Corolla-ish, which these days is original WRX-ish) but I would still like some grunt, so to me the 90s WRX would be perfect!

just steer clear of certain year models, avoid 94 at all cost, 97 and 98, because a lot of 98 are half halves.. meaning they have some 97 parts, some parts that ended up being in the 99, so when you need parts, it's a PITA working out if you need a 97 or 99 if you can't get an exact 98 match... early 98, is not the same as late 98 build as I found out, having a late 98. which has a 97 comm port and 99 ecu.
also avoid the 2000 bugeye as it's the first of the new shit shape but also there is a GC8 2000 model. If you are keen and looking, the 2000 GC8 is the best you can get in that shape.
